xFarm Technologies Buys Sibium Analytics to Enter Sugarcane, Biofuels
xFarm Technologies acquires Brazil's Sibium Analytics, extending its digital platform to sugarcane and biofuels and covering 24 million hectares across more than 600,000 farms worldwide.
Market notes
- xFarm's acquisition of Sibium Analytics expands its footprint to 24 million hectares across more than 600,000 farms globally; financial terms undisclosed.
- The deal is xFarm's sixth acquisition in four years and its second Brazilian purchase in a year, backed by existing investors and a new partnership with BlackRock.
- Brazil produces about half the world's sugarcane, leads global sugarcane ethanol production, and generates roughly 9% of its power from sugarcane-derived bioelectricity.

Swiss agtech company xFarm Technologies has acquired Brazilian platform Sibium Analytics, pushing its farm management software into sugarcane and biofuels for the first time and expanding its coverage to 24 million hectares across more than 600,000 farms globally.
The deal, announced without financial terms, is xFarm's sixth acquisition in four years and its second purchase of a Brazilian company within a year. Existing investors backed the transaction, which also drew support from a new partnership with asset manager BlackRock.
The strategic logic centers on Brazil's dominance in sugar and energy crops. Brazil produces roughly half of the world's sugarcane and ranks as the largest producer of sugarcane ethanol, sharing global ethanol leadership with the United States. Sugarcane-derived bioelectricity supplies about 9% of Brazil's power. For a data platform chasing scale, the sugarcane value chain — from field mapping through mill processing to biofuel certification — offers a large addressable market with heavy documentation requirements.
Sibium Analytics brings three platforms that serve sugarcane mills and biofuel processors. Sigma Digital handles geospatial remote sensing for crop mapping and risk assessment. Ambium Digital covers ESG and traceability, generating audit-ready sustainability certifications. A business intelligence layer translates raw field data into operational decisions for mill operators. Together, the tools track the sugarcane chain from production through processing and certification — a segment where European row-crop platforms like xFarm have had little presence.
"Our vision has always been to support farmers and ag innovators with world class data-driven decision making across entire agricultural value chains," xFarm CEO Matteo Vanotti said in a statement.
Combining Sibium's tools with xFarm's existing supply chain intelligence will create what Vanotti calls "an unprecedented, data-driven platform for farmers and processors alike." He frames the acquisition as part of a long-term strategy to build "the data layer of global agriculture" that converts primary field data into value for entire industries.
For growers and processors on both sides, the integration works in both directions. Sibium's existing customers gain direct access to xFarm's proprietary IoT ecosystem — hyper-local weather stations, field sensors and AI-powered decision support systems — which the companies say will improve operational planning, field visibility and supply chain forecasting. For sugarcane mills, better hyper-local weather data feeds directly into harvest scheduling and crushing logistics, where timing losses hit margins.
xFarm's customer base, which spans numerous crops, gains access to Sibium's certification and risk monitoring tools across Latin America. That matters for growers facing tightening sustainability requirements from buyers and lenders: audit-ready traceability data can shorten certification timelines and reduce compliance costs, which now function as a de facto condition of market access in several export chains.
Beyond the farm gate, xFarm positions the combined platform as a single data provider for food companies, finance and insurance players seeking transparent, auditable information across multi-crop global supply chains. The company did not disclose customer numbers for Sibium or revenue figures for either business, so claims of coverage gains rest on xFarm's own reporting of its 24-million-hectare footprint.
The acquisition marks the next step in xFarm's international expansion plan, deepening its Brazilian presence after last year's purchase in the same market. With BlackRock now in its investor orbit and six acquisitions banked since 2021, the company is consolidating farm data infrastructure across crops and continents rather than competing on any single market's agronomy.
Whether the integration delivers measurable cost savings for sugarcane growers and mills will depend on execution over the coming seasons — and on whether certification-driven demand for traceable field data keeps growing across Latin American supply chains.
