Country elevator averages in central Illinois stood at $4.67 per bushel for corn and $12.50 per bushel for soybeans.

Pacific Northwest
The Portland report dated October 2, citing the Portland Merchant's Exchange, counted 16 grain vessels in Columbia River ports the previous day, with four docked. Mills and processors quoted US No. 2 feed barley at $248.00 and $252.00 per ton, against a year-earlier average of $230.00 per ton.
US No. 2 yellow corn feed grade in Portland carried a basis of 150.00 to 206.00 cents per bushel, with prices of $6.4725 to $7.0325 and a year-ago average of $5.5900. Pacific Ports export elevators quoted 10.5 percent protein wheat at $6.6000 to $7.1000 per bushel, unchanged, with a year-earlier average of $6.1750.
Ohio River and Ohio
The Indiana report for October 1 showed barge loading elevators along the Ohio River quoting ordinary protein at a basis of minus 35.00 cents, unchanged, at $6.6975, up 3.75 cents, against a year-ago average of $5.1725. In Ohio, US No. 2 yellow corn traded at a basis of minus 55.00 to minus 35.00 cents, with changes from down 15.00 cents to unchanged, and prices of $4.4725 to $4.6725. The year-ago average was $3.6342. Terminal elevators at Toledo quoted corn at bases of minus 25.00 to minus 15.00 cents, with prices between $4.7725 and $4.8725.
Futures settlements
CBOT settlements as of October 1 showed December 2026 corn at 502.25 cents per bushel, November 2026 soybeans at 1284.00 cents, December 2026 CBOT wheat at 682.75 cents, December 2026 CBOT white wheat at 410.75 cents, December 2026 KCBT wheat at 737.50 cents and December 2026 MGE wheat at 696.75 cents. Later contract months were also reported across the exchanges.
For originators and merchandisers at Cargill, ADM, Bunge, CHS and regional cooperatives, the pattern across the bundle is a firm interior wheat market with mostly steady to stronger basis, offset by softer Gulf corn and soybean outright prices on the day. Averages from a year earlier are survey-based reference points rather than transacted results, so the year-over-year comparisons warrant the usual caution on methodology and reporting windows. Traders will watch whether the steady Gulf basis and strong PNW corn premiums hold as vessel lineups and harvest pressure build through October.
