Alltech-ProGnosis alliance targets EMEA mycotoxin testing
Alltech and ProGnosis Biotech announced a global mycotoxin-testing alliance on Nov. 5, 2026, starting with EMEA and linking rapid test strips to RAPIREAD risk analysis.
Market notes
- Nov. 5, 2026: Alltech and ProGnosis Biotech announced the global alliance.
- EMEA is the first-phase focus of the globally scoped mycotoxin partnership.
- ProGnosis lateral-flow strips and readers will feed results into Alltech RAPIREAD.
- Drought, heat stress and excessive rainfall can create conditions favorable to mycotoxin development.
- The announcement provides no test prices, turnaround times or validation results.

Alltech and ProGnosis Biotech named Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) as the initial-phase focus of their global mycotoxin-testing alliance on Nov. 5, 2026.
Alltech describes itself as a global leader in animal health and nutrition, while ProGnosis develops rapid lateral-flow testing for food-safety applications. The companies say their collaboration will connect ProGnosis test results with Alltech™ RAPIREAD™, adding interpretation, trend analysis and risk-management tools for producers, feed manufacturers and other businesses across the feed and livestock value chain.
How does the alliance turn test results into risk information?
The partnership links three components:
- ProGnosis rapid lateral-flow test strips for mycotoxin testing.
- ProGnosis readers that read the strips and generate results.
- Alltech RAPIREAD, the global risk-management platform used to interpret results and conduct automated trend and risk analysis.
“ProGnosis Biotech is dedicated to the development of fast and simple testing solutions to ensure food safety throughout the supply chain,” said Sebastien Poisson, business development manager at ProGnosis. “Integrating ProGnosis Biotech’s rapid lateral flow test strips into Alltech’s RAPIREAD platform seamlessly fuses ProGnosis’ readers with Alltech’s global risk-management platform, combining rapid testing with automated trend and risk analysis.”
The release presents that integration as a continuous workflow: a rapid test result enters an automated analysis platform that can relate mycotoxin data to animal performance and health. The intended output is decision support throughout the feed and livestock chain, rather than a positive or negative test result alone.
“Alltech RAPIREAD allows users to understand their true mycotoxin risk as it relates to animal performance and health,” said Dr. Alexandra Weaver, global technical support for Alltech. “The collaboration between Alltech and ProGnosis gives those in the agricultural industry the ability to not only test for mycotoxins but also gain insights about their data.”
Weaver’s second point is operational: users can test for mycotoxins and then interpret the data. The companies say mycotoxin risks continue to evolve across regions, making localized intelligence as important as rapid detection for producers and feed manufacturers.
Takeaway: The alliance links strip testing, readers and automated analysis in one risk-management workflow.
Why is EMEA first?
The alliance has global scope, but EMEA will lead the initial phase because the region faces growing mycotoxin challenges and offers an opportunity to combine Alltech’s animal-health and nutrition capabilities with ProGnosis’ testing technology, the companies said.
Changing weather supplies part of the agronomic backdrop. The announcement says drought, heat stress and excessive rainfall can influence crop quality and create conditions favorable to mycotoxin development. That puts crop monitoring alongside feed and livestock risk management as weather patterns alter contamination exposure.
Producers, feed manufacturers and livestock operators therefore face a two-part problem: obtaining rapid results and judging what those results mean for feed use and animal health. The proposed system seeks to address both by combining detection, data interpretation, trend monitoring and risk analysis.
Takeaway: EMEA leads because the partners see the region’s mycotoxin pressure as the clearest starting point for a global rollout.
What can producers verify before adoption?
The release names only Alltech and ProGnosis Biotech as participants. It does not identify participating cooperatives, growers, feed mills, other input suppliers, laboratories or government agencies, and it gives no country-by-country launch schedule.
It also provides no test turnaround time, throughput, sample types, toxin-specific thresholds, reference ranges, method-validation results, diagnostic accuracy, prices or coverage volume. Without those figures, feed buyers and livestock operators cannot compare the service’s speed, cost per test or scalability, nor determine whether RAPIREAD output addresses regulatory compliance, feed rejection or internal animal-management thresholds.
The economics also remain unquantified. The announcement cites no crop acreage, grain price, commodity basis, testing expense or effect on feed costs, farm margins or livestock margins. It describes a risk-management capability, not a measured production or financial result.
Those omissions matter because changing weather can alter crop quality and mycotoxin risk, while the proposed value depends on users acting on interpreted data quickly. The release offers no baseline showing how many tests were conducted, what findings changed or what the integration saved. Treat the announcement as a product collaboration, not a performance verdict.
Takeaway: The partnership establishes the technology link but not the evidence needed to judge its speed, cost or effectiveness.
The next test for the alliance is whether its EMEA phase produces country availability, validated methods, published turnaround and pricing data, and evidence that feed and livestock users can make faster decisions with lower risk and more predictable margins.
