Hikal Limited has signed a multi-year contract development and manufacturing deal with a Europe-based agrochemical company, with commercial launch of the specialised product targeted for the end of financial year 2026-27. The company disclosed the agreement in a regulatory filing to the National Stock Exchange of India on November 2, 2026, from its Mumbai headquarters.

The Crop Protection division of Hikal will handle development and manufacturing. The unnamed product has already cleared process development and scale-up, moving it from the lab bench to commercial readiness. Hikal will supply the product to global markets, with volumes set to climb progressively as regulatory approvals land in individual jurisdictions.

Sameer Hiremath, Chairman and Managing Director of Hikal, framed the deal as the payoff for sustained technical work. "This contract marks an important milestone for our Crop Protection business, converting nearly three years of collaborative development and scale-up into a long-term commercial partnership," Hiremath said. "It demonstrates Hikal's ability to combine deep technical expertise with reliable manufacturing capabilities to take complex products from development to commercial supply."

He added: "We are well positioned to support the planned launch and progressive expansion of supplies across global markets."

What does the contract cover?

The agreement is a CDMO arrangement — Hikal both develops the manufacturing process and produces the active material at scale. Neither the product name, the European customer, nor the contract value appears in the filing. The disclosed facts are the scope, the timeline and the ramp structure.

  • Multi-year supply contract through Hikal's Crop Protection division
  • Product has completed process development and scale-up
  • Commercial launch projected toward the end of FY 2026-27
  • Volumes increase progressively, contingent on market-by-market regulatory approvals

The dependency on registrations matters. Supply growth tracks approval timelines in each destination market, so the revenue ramp will follow the regulatory calendar rather than a fixed schedule.

Who is Hikal?

Founded in 1988, Hikal manufactures Active Ingredients, Intermediates and Biocides for the global life sciences industry. The company operates five manufacturing facilities across Maharashtra, Gujarat and Bengaluru, plus a Research & Technology centre in Pune. Its client base spans pharmaceuticals, crop protection, animal health and specialty chemicals.

The company holds Responsible Care® certification and an EcoVadis Gold Medal rating for sustainability performance — credentials that increasingly function as a precondition for supply agreements with European agrochemical firms subject to tightening environmental scrutiny.

For Hikal's Crop Protection division, the contract converts roughly three years of joint development work into recurring commercial revenue. It also deepens the division's portfolio of specialised solutions for global clients, a positioning the company has built on process chemistry and scale-up capability.

The filing does not disclose financial terms, so investors will watch the FY 2026-27 launch window and subsequent regulatory approvals as the first testable milestones for the partnership.
