American Vanguard Buys Four Syngenta Brands, Targets $7M Sales
AMVAC acquires U.S. rights to Caparol, Evik, Prime+ and Agri-Flex from Syngenta, projecting over $7 million in annual net sales across cotton, citrus and tobacco.
Market notes
- AMVAC agreed to acquire U.S. rights to Caparol, Evik, Prime+ and Agri-Flex from Syngenta, including registrations and trademarks; financial terms undisclosed.
- American Vanguard projects over $7 million in annual net sales from the deal and expects earnings accretion over the next year.
- The acquisitions support company targets of $100 million in new product sales by 2030 and $600 million in annualized sales by end of 2028; registration transfers with Syngenta are still in progress.

American Vanguard Corporation (NYSE: AVD) projects more than $7 million in annual net sales from its agreement to acquire U.S. rights to four established crop-protection brands from Syngenta Crop Protection, the company announced September 29, 2026, from its Irvine, California headquarters.
The company's principal operating subsidiary, AMVAC Chemical Corporation, signed agreements with Syngenta Crop Protection, LLC and Syngenta Crop Protection AG covering Caparol®, Evik®, Prime+® and Agri-Flex®, along with the applicable U.S. end-use product registrations and trademarks. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The four products span a broad set of grower segments. Caparol is a long-established residual herbicide used against broadleaf weeds and grasses in cotton, vegetables and peas, and it carries strong utility in burndown tank-mix programs. Evik is a niche herbicide with solid brand recognition in sugarcane and pineapple. Prime+ is a specialized plant growth regulator for sucker control in tobacco, supporting labor-saving, single-application programs in key tobacco-producing states. Agri-Flex is an established insecticide used in specialty crops, particularly Florida citrus, where it provides residual control of key pests and serves as a rotational tool in integrated pest management programs.
"The addition of these well-established brands to the AMVAC portfolio expands and strengthens our offerings in core crops while providing American farmers solutions for their specific field challenges," said Dak Kaye, chief executive officer of American Vanguard. "Each of these products has a recognized position in its respective market and addresses important needs across cotton, vegetables, sugarcane, pineapple, tobacco and specialty-crop production."
The deal feeds directly into American Vanguard's growth targets. Kaye said the acquisitions strengthen the company's plan to reach $100 million in new product sales by 2030 and support its midterm goal of $600 million in annualized sales by the end of 2028. American Vanguard expects the transaction to add to earnings over the next year and to improve its leverage ratio over the next twelve months and beyond. Those figures are management projections, not harvested results — the registration-transfer process with Syngenta remains in progress, and product availability through the transition depends on its completion.
"As we complete the registration-transfer process with Syngenta, our priority will be to ensure a smooth transition, maintain product availability and provide uninterrupted service to customers and channel partners across the United States," Kaye said.
For growers in cotton, vegetable, sugarcane, pineapple and tobacco country — and Florida citrus producers facing persistent pest pressure — the immediate practical question is continuity of supply through the change of hands. American Vanguard says uninterrupted service to customers and channel partners is its stated priority during the transfer window.
The acquisition continues a two-decade pattern at American Vanguard, which has significantly expanded operations through product and business acquisitions and now holds more than 1,000 product registrations worldwide. The company develops and markets products for crop protection and management, turf and ornamentals management, and public health.
American Vanguard has not disclosed the purchase price or a target closing date for the registration transfers, leaving EPA registration movement as the milestone to watch before the projected $7 million in sales can materialize.
